ARK LAUNDRY SOLUTIONS | Independent Contractor Opportunity
A DBA of Ark Project Solutions, LLC | Oviedo, FL | Serving the Orlando Metro Area
Laundry Field Service Technician
1099 Independent Contractor | Orlando Metro Area | $30 – $38/hr
Set your own schedule We find the clients You turn the wrenches
THE OPPORTUNITY
Ark Laundry Solutions is a growing commercial laundry equipment repair company serving laundromats, extended-stay hotels, apartment complexes, and assisted living facilities across the Orlando metro area. We handle all client acquisition, contracts, scheduling, billing, and follow-up. You show up, do the repair, and get paid. That is the entire job.
We are building a roster of qualified independent contractor technicians to handle service calls as our client base grows. This is not a one-time gig — we are looking for reliable technicians we can call consistently as volume increases.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Diagnose and repair commercial washers and dryers at client locations across the Orlando metro area
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections on covered equipment per scheduled visits
- Complete a work order form at each visit documenting findings, parts used, and machine status
- Source and install replacement parts using your existing supplier accounts — you handle procurement, we reimburse cost and bill the markup to the client
- Communicate clearly with Ark Laundry Solutions after each call and submit completed work orders for payment
- Represent Ark Laundry Solutions professionally at every client location — our clients are business owners who value reliability above everything
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role requires direct hands-on experience with commercial laundry equipment. We are not looking for residential appliance repair generalists. You must have worked on commercial machines professionally.
Experience required: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing commercial washers and dryers in a professional capacity. We service the following brands — you should know at least several of them:
Speed Queen | Huebsch | UniMac | Primus | IPSO (Alliance Laundry Systems family) | Dexter | Maytag Commercial | Electrolux Commercial | Continental Girbau (Girbau North America) | Wascomat | Milnor | LG Commercial | Whirlpool Commercial | ADC (American Dryer Corporation) | Fagor
Tools required: Your own complete professional tool set for commercial laundry equipment repair. We do not provide tools.
Transportation required: Your own reliable vehicle to travel to client sites across the Orlando metro area. Vehicle and travel costs are the contractor's responsibility.
Insurance required: Active general liability insurance AND proof of workers' compensation coverage. See the Workers' Comp section below for full details.
Parts sourcing: Familiarity with commercial laundry parts suppliers and ability to source parts independently. You procure; we reimburse at cost.
Professionalism: Punctual, reliable, and clear communicator. You represent Ark Laundry Solutions every time you walk through a client's door.
WORKERS' COMPENSATION — REQUIRED FOR ALL TECHNICIANS
Florida law requires that anyone performing work for a hiring company carry workers' compensation coverage or hold a valid exemption. This requirement applies to all technicians regardless of business structure — whether you operate as a sole proprietor, single-member LLC, or multi-member LLC.
- If you have formed an LLC or operate as a sole proprietor and work alone with no employees: you may file a Florida workers' compensation exemption certificate at no cost through the Florida Division of Workers' Compensation. This exemption releases Ark Laundry Solutions from liability if you are injured on the job.
- If you have employees working under you: you must carry an active workers' compensation policy covering yourself and all employees.
- Either your exemption certificate or your active workers' comp policy number must be on file with Ark Laundry Solutions before your first job. No exceptions.
PAY & STRUCTURE
Pay rate: $30/hr — standard technician | $38/hr — senior technician with multi-brand certification or specialized experience
Emergency dispatch premium: $45/hr and $57/hr for after-hours emergency callouts (1.5x standard rate), up to $60/hr and $76/hr for late-night, Sunday, and holiday emergencies (2x standard rate). 2-hour minimum per callout, paid from the time you leave home.
Pay type: Hourly. The clock runs from arrival to job completion. You are not paid a flat fee per job.
Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor. You are responsible for your own taxes. We issue a 1099 at year end.
Payment: Paid weekly. Payment issued within 3 business days of an approved and submitted work order.
Parts: You source and purchase parts using your supplier accounts. Submit your receipt. We reimburse cost and retain the markup we charge the client.
Work volume: Calls assigned as our client base grows. Not guaranteed hours — steady independent income that scales with our business.
Agreement: All technicians sign an Independent Contractor Agreement before their first job. The agreement is open-ended with a 30-day termination clause by either party. It covers confidentiality, non-solicitation of Ark Laundry Solutions clients, insurance requirements, and payment terms. There is no fixed annual term — either party may end the relationship with 30 days written notice.
HOW WE EVALUATE NEW TECHNICIANS
Before any technician is added to our active roster, we conduct a brief field evaluation. This is how it works:
- We schedule a short phone screening to verify your experience, brand familiarity, and availability
- If the phone call looks like a good fit, we arrange a field evaluation — we visit you at a job you are already performing or arrange a brief on-site assessment where we can observe your diagnostic process, how you handle the equipment, and how you communicate with a client or property contact
- During the field evaluation we also confirm that your tools are appropriate for commercial laundry work and that your vehicle is reliable and professional in appearance
- If everything checks out, we complete paperwork — insurance documents, workers' comp exemption or policy, W9, and the Independent Contractor Agreement — and you are added to our active roster
This process protects our clients and protects you. We want to know who we are sending to a client location before we send them.
WHAT THIS IS NOT
- This is not a W2 position. No benefits, no vehicle, no tax withholding.
- This is not residential appliance repair. Every client is a commercial business.
- This is not a requirement to work full-time or exclusively with us. You can work for other clients on your own time.
- This is not a flat-per-job arrangement. You are paid hourly for time actually worked.
HOW TO APPLY
Send a message or email with the following — no resume required:
- How many years of experience you have working on commercial washers and dryers professionally
- Which brands you have the most experience with from the list above
- Confirmation that you have your own tools and reliable transportation
- Confirmation that you carry general liability insurance and can provide a Florida workers' comp exemption certificate or active policy
- Your general availability and how many service calls per week you can realistically handle
- Your email address and phone number so we can follow up with you directly
We will schedule a short phone call to verify fit and arrange the field evaluation from there.
