What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Coordinator II position at arizona?
Support laboratory and field activities, including sample measurement/collection, laboratory extractions, and subsequent analysis in coordination with lab members.
Travel to Amazon institutions and field sites to help coordinate and assist in activities. This includes assisting in fieldwork in tropical sites in an outdoor environment.
Field and lab work may include exposure to extreme heat and potential hazards typical of field or lab work, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals in a work setting.
Maintain transparent protocols for field safety and inclusive training, research and authorship to equitably sustain a diverse international collaboration.
Assist in securing appropriate authorization from international government agencies for research, travel, and training activities. The employee will be given training on these established protocols set by the Brazilian government and will be responsible for collecting needed documents. Help coordinate with international counterparts (especially in Brazil) in the organization of field research and training activities.
Complete appropriate paperwork for the departmental business office to comply with University of Arizona and project policies in support of PI and lab actives. Example: collecting documentation for purchases, reimbursements, and participant travel as needed.
Provide support to the Principal Investigator as needed, including: Assisting in coordination of activities across lab members and external collaborators. Assisting in the development of proposals to funding agencies. Assisting in preparation of reports to funding agencies. Making recommendations and implementing purchases for laboratory and field campaigns. Generally evaluating and resolving problems within scope of position.
