JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Vice President – Operations, the Operations Supervisor assists, and supports the Division Managers in planning, organizing, managing, and maintaining the company's operational support functions. The Operations Supervisor will direct the activities of the Operations Analysts and the Safety Management Team to provide Operations with the needed support to maintain an efficient and safe work environment.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for a variety of tasks and duties, which may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage, with the Division offices and Operations Department staff, to reduce the company's unsold and unaccounted for water.
- Direct the company Safety Coordinator in identification of potential hazards and assisting the Operations team in managing the occupational safety and health programs.
- Ensure that all employees have the ability to attend and complete all required safety training.
- Manage the writing of standardized operating procedures and departmental processes; and recommend improvement and changes in department and division operations.
- Develop and manage Best Management Practices implementation with the Operations Analysts and administrative support functions for Operations to improve customer service, safety, and system operations.
- Responsible for fleet management for all locations including a thorough knowledge of all company vehicle specifications.
- Manage all aspects of assigned projects to assure timely completion.
- Provide support in the recruiting, hiring, and training of operational positions.
- Implement directives for employee development, knowledge, and skills for succession of superintendents and managers.
- Responsible for the company's tank maintenance plan.
- Work with divisional management to develop a comprehensive list of required capital improvements for storage tanks for the Capital planning process. This will be properly coordinated with the tank maintenance plan.
- Provide operational support in coordination with the Water Resources Manager.
- Direct the Operations Analysts in water reporting to ADWR, CAP, and all other water reporting agencies.
- Other tasks and duties as required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills, knowledge, and physical requirements include, but are not limited to the following:
- Thorough knowledge of operational support activities for Division Management.
- Familiarity with federal, state and county health requirements and OSHA regulations.
- Five years of supervising, motivating, and training of personnel.
- Thorough familiarity with safety rules, practices, and procedures.
- A neat and professional appearance.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and have good attendance.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, to write legibly, have good reading comprehension, conduct independent research, and make recommendations to management.
- Ability to safely perform repetitive physical activities including sit, stand, or walk for moderate periods of time, use personal computer, reach, grasp, push, pull, lift up to 40 lbs., stoop, bend, climb a ladder up to 40 feet, crouch, squat and twist.
- Must have very strong personal computer ("PC") skills and have strong working knowledge of and experience with standard PC software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other necessary software programs.
- This position will spend time in the field working with employees and management.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
The following are required:
- High school diploma.
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field preferred.
- Valid Arizona driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Five years' experience in an operational support position.
