FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN III - PINAL VALLEY ONLY
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the General Division Manager, Assistant Manager and the Operations Superintendent, the Field Service Technician ("FST") III must demonstrate a proficiency in communicating with the general public, Company employees, supervisors, and others. The FST III must demonstrate the ability to prepare clear, concise, and complete written reports, and must be able to work outdoors in all conditions. The FST III must understand and communicate information related to customer service, maintain proper conduct, and present a positive image of the Company. This position is staffed only in the Pinal Valley system.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Record any system or equipment changes on maps and records.
- Install new or replacement meters.
- Make turn-ons and turn-offs according to work orders to connect or disconnect service.
- May operate auxiliary equipment such as purification or treatment system.
- May be responsible for materials and supplies inventory and applicable paperwork.
- FST III employees may be assigned other emergency or regular duties dependent upon available time and needs of the area.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to read meters utilizing handheld meter reading device.
- This position will perform Utility Worker III duties as needed after hours and in situations that management deems necessary to include emergencies and necessary reassignments during normal working hours.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate with vocational training in pipefitting, electrical, or internal combustion engine crafts.
- Two years' experience in pipefitting or general maintenance mechanic with some pipefitting.
- Mature enough to work alone effectively.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and welding experience.
- Understanding of water production and distribution methods and systems.
- Mechanical aptitude: use of hand tools and understanding of basic mechanics.
- Functionally literate and competent in basic mathematics.
- Must be able to use, or learn to use, the handheld meter reading device and related equipment.
PROFESSIONAL OR OTHER CERTIFICATION OR LICENSING
- Must have a valid, appropriate Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must have at least a valid Grade 1 Water Distribution System Operator Certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
- Must have a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Grade 2 Water Distribution Operator Certification before FST III an advance out of the fourth wage step.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be physically able to perform work that requires walking, bending, kneeling, digging, and lifting items of at least seventy-five (75) pounds in weight.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
