The School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning (SGSUP) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for an environmental planning scholar excited by the prospect of working in this innovative environment. SGSUP is seeking to hire an individual at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) level, with an expected start date of August 2024. We encourage applications from individuals with expertise on any topic within environmental planning.
The successful candidate will teach in our undergraduate, masters, and doctoral planning programs, both in-person and online, and maintain an active agenda of externally-funded and peer-reviewed research. Possible courses that the candidate could teach include Sustainable Cities and Environmental Planning. In addition to developing a vigorous research program, the successful candidate will also be expected to mentor at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels, participate in service to the school, university and profession, and build productive relationships with faculty both within and beyond the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in urban planning or related field by the time of appointment, August 2024
- Demonstrated research focus on environmental planning with the potential to produce high-impact, peer-reviewed publications
- Evidence of a well-articulated commitment to excellence in teaching
- Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter
- Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications
- Demonstrated experience developing and writing successful research proposals
- Demonstrated experience teaching in a variety of modalities (e.g. classroom, hybrid, and online)
- Evidence or demonstrated experience mentoring students
- Demonstrated success engaging with the professional planning community and/or practical experience in the planning field
