Job Description:
The Exercise Interventionist will play a key role in delivering and supporting the implementation of the FIT-ADSMART clinical trial, which examines the effects of physical activity on cognitive and physical health in older adults experiencing memory concerns. The interventionist will lead individualized or small-group exercise sessions with participants aged 65 and older, monitor progress, ensure safety, and provide encouragement to promote adherence to the intervention protocol.
Salary : $21.20 - $26.46 per hour, DOE.
Essential Duties:
Assess intervention session prescription accuracy.
Set up transportation participants to exercise facilities, as needed.
Provide individualized exercise training to study participants according to the session prescription.
Monitor and assess participant’s exercise responses and adjust accordingly.
Assess and report protocol deviations and violations and adverse events.
Coordinate care in case of emergency and follow up.
Meticulously document all aspects of activity delivery in REDCap.
Work closely with the study coordinator to conduct participant screening and advance them through screening timely to prevent loss of interest by potential participants.
Use an ASU or personal vehicle to travel to different campuses.
Administer standardized assessments and interventions according to established study protocols.
Schedule appointments and maintain calendar for project.
Desired Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, multitask, establish priorities, and problem-solve in real-time.
CPR certified or ability to become certified prior to hire.
Prior clinical experience working with older adults with cognitive impairment and dementia.
Proficiency with computer skills such as word processing and spread sheet programs (ex. Microsoft Office), and REDCap.
Prior research experience including clinical trials research involving direct patient contact, recruitment, scheduling study visits, and delivering treatments to participants.
Working Environment:
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended sitting, standing, and walking periods.
Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily desktop computer use, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties.
