Summary

Regulatory Strategy & Compliance Analyst / Analyst, Senior

At APS, this is not a back-office compliance role, this is a high-impact position at the front line of how we engage with regulators, protect our business, and shape outcomes that affect millions of customers across Arizona.

We are looking for a highly skilled regulatory professional who can operate with confidence in a complex, highly visible environment, someone who doesn’t wait for direction, but instead steps in, assesses, challenges, and drives solutions forward. This role requires a rare combination of regulatory expertise, critical thinking, business acumen, and communication strength.

You’ll have a direct hand in influencing regulatory outcomes, strengthening compliance strategy, and improving how APS shows up with agencies like FERC and state commissions.

What Your Day Would Be Like

  • Own and drive regulatory compliance efforts across federal and state requirements, including FERC filings and high-visibility regulatory submissions
  • Step into complex complaint cases and regulatory inquiries, analyze root causes, and proactively implement process improvements that reduce risk and elevate performance
  • Operate as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, bringing clarity, challenging assumptions, and guiding decisions that align with regulatory expectations
  • Develop and deliver clear, compelling written materials (responses, reports, testimony) that stand up to regulatory scrutiny
  • Represent APS with confidence and credibility in interactions with regulators and cross-functional partners
  • Navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and move work forward independently, while knowing when to ask the right, strategic questions to avoid risk and drive better outcomes

Who We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience working with federal and/or state regulatory bodies, ideally within a utility or highly regulated industry
  • Direct experience supporting or managing FERC filings or equivalent regulatory reporting
  • A true self-starter—someone who takes ownership, anticipates needs, and drives results without waiting to be told what to do
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to challenge and the judgment to know when to escalate
  • Strong process improvement mindset—you don’t just manage issues, you fix what’s causing them
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, simplify complexity, and represent the organization effectively

Minimum Requirements
