This role is ideal for a seasoned television news producer who thrives in live production, cares deeply about journalistic integrity, and wants to create programming that serves the public, elevates civic engagement, and reaches audiences across Arizona.

The Senior Producer drives the planning, production, scripting, and distribution of some of Arizona’s most visible public affairs programming—broadcast statewide through a network of hundreds of local TV, radio, print, and digital brands. The Senior Producer also serves as the organization’s lead on all broadcast production operations—overseeing show design and execution, managing vendor partners, and representing the Association as a key public-facing voice throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

Production Leadership

·      Oversee end-to-end production for live and recorded statewide programs including political debates, town halls, and issue-focused specials.

·      Lead all production planning and live control room management (“boothing”) to ensure smooth, professional broadcasts.

·      Coordinate closely with partners, moderators, and vendors for seamless execution of technical, editorial, and on-air elements.

Editorial and Creative Direction

·      Develop/write scripts, moderator guides, and production rundowns that reflect strong journalistic integrity and balance.

·      Shape the creative vision for televised programming, ensuring it meets the highest standards for quality and viewer engagement.

·      Collaborate with internal teams and partner stations to align tone, branding, and visual presentation.

Technical Oversight and Distribution

·      Research and recommend vendors to support distribution via IP and satellite delivery.

·      Troubleshoot real-time technical issues during live productions to maintain broadcast quality.

·      Maintain delivery logs and ensure compliance with distribution and legal standards.

Public Representation and Collaboration

·      Represent the Arizona Media Association Arizona Local News Foundation as the lead producer in pre-production, planning, and live settings.

·      Build and maintain trusted relationships with station partners, moderators, elected officials, and community leaders.

Qualifications

Experience

·      Minimum of 5 years in large market television or broadcast production, with experience producing live programming or special events.

·      Demonstrated ability to manage both creative and technical aspects of complex productions.

·      Experience with live control room operations and coordination of broadcast distribution systems.

Skills

·      Excellent editorial judgment and strong writing skills for broadcast scripts and show flow.

·      General familiarity with broadcast technology (acquiring satellite time, audio and IP)

·      Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent productions.

·      Clear, confident communication style with the ability to lead diverse production teams.

Education

·      Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Broadcasting, Communications, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience accepted.

Personal Attributes

·      Composed under pressure, with exceptional attention to detail and time management.

·      Collaborative and adaptable leader with strong interpersonal skills.

·      Deep passion for Arizona, local media, and strengthening civic engagement through broadcast storytelling.
