What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialty Vehicle Operator position at Arizona Department of Public Safety?
1. Drives the Department's command vehicles or other vehicles to and from incidents anywhere in the State.
2. Responds to call-outs twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
3. Operates and maintains all equipment associated with the command vehicles.
4. Maintains assigned equipment, assuring its safety and reliability.
5. Ensures the vehicles are ready to respond.
6. Completes preventative maintenance and ensures repairs are performed, utilizing fleet services and vendors as needed.
7. Drives gas and diesel vehicles ranging from ½ ton vans to semi-tractor trailer rigs weighing 80,000 pounds.
8. Adheres to all safety regulations and laws.
9. Transports mail, supplies, records, reports, and other articles to various locations (e.g., DPS facilities, courts, etc.) to ensure safe and prompt delivery of required items.
10. Records detailed information (e.g., Vehicle Action Removal Report, tow truck requests, vehicle work orders, supply requisitions, property control forms, supplemental offense reports, etc.) to provide a written account of position-related activities or to obtain goods and services.
11. Operates a police radio.
12. Transports Department vehicles to Fleet or authorized vendors for maintenance or repairs.
13. Obtains and maintains supplies in command vehicles such as computers, printers, office supplies, water, ice, and snacks.
14. Maintains and operates the command vehicle observation cameras.
15. Fills and properly disposes of the command vehicle fresh and waste water tanks.
16. Transports property and evidence to the appropriate central facility for safekeeping and completes the proper documentation.
17. Orders vehicle maintenance supplies and parts for routine vehicle maintenance, repairs, and office supplies.
18. Testifies in court in accordance with court procedures.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal candidates will possess a valid CDL.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must successfully complete the Department’s Command Trailer Training and Specialty Vehicle Training within three months of hire.
Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and complete any required driver training, in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, or bodily fluids.
Will be required to work extended and irregular hours.
Must be able to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Must be able to push/pull items weighing up to 50 pounds, in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Must be able to walk/run .25 miles.

Salary : $50,114 - $71,031
