Arizona Dance Coalition Board Member


Role Summary


The Arizona Dance Coalition (ADC) seeks engaged, collaborative, and forward-thinking individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. Board Members play a vital role in guiding the organization's mission, strategic direction, financial sustainability, and statewide impact.


As ambassadors for Arizona's dance community, Board Members help strengthen connections among artists, educators, organizations, and supporters while advancing access, education, advocacy, and visibility for dance across Arizona. This leadership role offers an opportunity to contribute expertise, build meaningful partnerships, and support the continued growth of a thriving arts ecosystem.


What Success Looks Like


Successful Board Members actively participate in governance, strategic planning, and committee work while serving as advocates for ADC within their communities and professional networks. They contribute to organizational growth by supporting fundraising efforts, cultivating partnerships, attending events, and helping expand ADC's reach and impact throughout Arizona.

  • Consistent participation in board and committee meetings
  • Active engagement in strategic initiatives and organizational planning
  • Meaningful contributions to fundraising, sponsorship, and membership growth
  • Serving as a visible ambassador for ADC and the broader dance community

How This Role Supports the Organization


The Board of Directors provides governance, oversight, and strategic leadership for ADC. Board Members work collaboratively with fellow directors, committees, volunteers, and organizational leadership to ensure the organization remains financially healthy, mission-focused, and responsive to the evolving needs of Arizona's dance communities.


Responsibilities


Governance & Leadership

  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to support ADC's mission, vision, and long-term goals.
  • Participate in board meetings and contribute to informed decision-making.
  • Review organizational policies, budgets, reports, and strategic plans.
  • Uphold fiduciary responsibilities and nonprofit governance best practices.


Advocacy & Community Engagement

  • Serve as an ambassador for ADC within professional, artistic, educational, and community networks.
  • Promote ADC programs, events, initiatives, and membership opportunities.
  • Foster relationships that strengthen Arizona's dance ecosystem and increase community engagement.


Fundraising & Resource Development

  • Support fundraising initiatives, sponsorship development, grant opportunities, and donor engagement efforts.
  • Assist in identifying potential partners, supporters, and funding opportunities.
  • Participate in activities that contribute to the organization's financial sustainability.


Committee Participation

  • Serve on at least one board committee and actively contribute to committee goals and projects.
  • Collaborate with fellow board members and volunteers to advance organizational priorities.
  • Support the planning and implementation of ADC programs, events, and special initiatives.


Strategic Growth

  • Contribute ideas and expertise that support organizational innovation and growth.
  • Help identify emerging opportunities and challenges within Arizona's dance and arts communities.
  • Support efforts to increase accessibility, inclusion, visibility, and impact across the state.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications

  • Passion for advancing dance, arts education, community engagement, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Commitment to ADC's mission and values.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and communities.
  • Willingness to actively participate in meetings, committees, and organizational initiatives.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership and nonprofit governance practices.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in dance, performing arts, arts administration, education, nonprofit leadership, business, marketing, fundraising, community development, finance, legal affairs, or public policy.
  • Previous board, committee, volunteer, or leadership experience.
  • Experience with fundraising, sponsorship development, grant writing, or donor cultivation.
  • Connections within Arizona's arts, education, business, philanthropic, or civic communities.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and strategic planning.


Time Commitment

  • Attend regular Board of Directors meetings.
  • Participate in committee meetings and special initiatives.
  • Attend ADC events and activities when possible.
  • Contribute time and expertise to support fundraising, advocacy, and organizational development efforts.
