Head Coach - Football (FT)

General Job Brief:

Arizona Christian University (ACU) invites applications for the position of Head Football Coach. This opportunity is to lead the intercollege football program at one of the fastest-growing Christian universities in the country. The Head Coach will provide overall leadership, vision, and daily management of the Football program. This position is responsible for building a biblically integrated culture of excellence both on and off the field, while recruiting student athletes who thrive in the classroom, in competition, and in their faith.

This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.

Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain a culture of faith, influence, relationships, and excellence.
• Direct all aspects of day-to-day operations for the Football program (coaching; recruiting; scouting; scheduling; budget and scholarship management; supervision of assistant coaches; student-athlete academic monitoring and enforcement; development of team policies and procedures; development and implementation of off-season conditioning; knowledge of and adherence to university, conference and NAIA rules.)
• Build a strong national and regional recruiting network to attract high-character student-athletes who will represent ACU with excellence.
• Collaborate with the University and Athletics Department leadership to support fundraising initiatives that advance the football program.
• Promote personal growth, spiritual formation, and academic accountability for student-athletes.
• Provide mentorship, prayer, and ongoing spiritual support to student-athletes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Commitment to the University’s faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith.

• Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff.

• Possess and demonstrate the ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred).

• Demonstrated connection to the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University.

• Previous successful head coaching experience at the college or high school level is strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and proven managerial and fiscal skills required.

• Know and adhere to all rules and regulations of the University, the NAIA, and the Frontier Conference.

• First Aid/CPR certification (must be active within 60 days of employment).

• NAIA Champions of Character Character-Driven Coaches online course (must be completed within 60 days of employment).

Working Conditions:

• A general collegiate level football environment includes but is not limited to: Work performed both indoors and outdoors, often in hot conditions, and requires seated, standing, and movement work.

• Office hours are required to accomplish specified administrative tasks including meeting with student athletes as needed.

• Travel to competition and recruitment as needed.

Time Required:

• Standard college football calendar for in-season and out-of-season.

• Year-round recruitment and communication expectations.

This position is considered to be full-time, exempt for overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
