What are the responsibilities and job description for the Casting: Triângulo – Principals and Ensemble position at Arizona Broadway Theatre?
DESCRIPTION
Arizona Broadway Theatre and Triângulo Productions LLC are seeking performers for the world premiere of TRIÂNGULO, an explosive new music theatre work combining the energy of contemporary musical theatre, the emotionality of opera, the physicality of dance, and the visceral worlds of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts.
Set in Rio de Janeiro and Miami during the early 1990s, TRIÂNGULO follows Esperança, a young Brazilian woman fighting to survive and forge her identity in the male-dominated world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. Performed primarily in English with elements of Spanish and Portuguese, the production combines live music, movement, dance, and highly realistic staged combat.
TRIÂNGULO is written and directed by Emmy nominee Crystal Manich, with music by Latin Grammy nominee Martin Bejerano and fight/dance choreography by ballet and martial arts expert George Birkadze. Tony, Grammy, Emmy and Olivier Award-winning orchestrator, music director, arranger, and composer Alex Lacamoire serves as orchestration consultant, with internationally renowned MMA coach and fight choreographer Greg Jackson as fight consultant. The work was conceived and is produced by Joseph Specter.
SEEKING
We are continuing to cast principal, supporting, featured ensemble, and ensemble roles and are seeking dynamic singing actors, movers, dancers, martial artists, and athlete-performers of all backgrounds. Experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, MMA, dance, stage combat, or other athletic performance is a plus, though not required for all roles. Classical ballet experience is also a plus.
TO SUBMIT
Please submit via email to [email protected] a headshot and résumé along with three separate videos:
- DANCE/FIGHT: Submit at least 90 seconds of continuous dancing and/or fighting, with a maximum total run time of 3 minutes. You may instead submit two continuous dance/fight videos, each at least 90 seconds, provided their combined run time does not exceed 3 minutes. Martial artists may submit footage from classes, tournaments, or similar settings. Different dance styles are welcome. Please do not submit edited reels.
- SINGING: Submit one continuous, unedited video of at least 90 seconds and no more than 2 minutes demonstrating your singing ability. Musical theatre, opera, jazz, Latin, pop/rock, or related material is welcome. Performers whose primary discipline is dance, martial arts, or another physical performance form should still include a singing video so that we can assess the full range of your abilities.
- ACTING: Submit one continuous, unedited video of at least 90 seconds and no more than 3 minutes demonstrating your acting ability. Please slate your name, height, and the role or roles for which you would like to be considered; identifying a role is required for principal/supporting-role consideration and optional for Ensemble. You may perform a monologue of your choice or select up to two sides from the TRIÂNGULO casting page. Even if you do not consider yourself an actor, please submit an acting video.
