The Role: Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP)

Role Location: Tucson, Arizona | Home Health | Clinic

Department: Therapy

Position Type: 1099 Contractor | Part-Time | minimum of 5 hours of treatment/and or evaluations conducted weekly

Incentive: A $1,000 incentive will be provided once the first 20 hours are billed

Key Responsibilities:

In-Clinic Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and patient goals.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, occupational/physical therapists, school professionals, and ABA staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and families about communication strategies and therapy exercises.
  • Document patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Stay current with best practices and evidence-based techniques in speech-language pathology.

Home Health Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-home evaluations to assess the patient’s communication and swallowing needs in their natural environment.
  • Design and implement tailored therapy programs that accommodate the patient’s home setting and functional routines.
  • Provide education and training to family members and caregivers on communication techniques and strategies to support the patient.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed.
  • Advocate for necessary modifications and equipment to enhance communication and safety at home.
  • Build rapport with patients and families to encourage engagement in the therapeutic process.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
  • Experience in a pediatric clinical and/or home health setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and assist patients as needed.
  • Capacity to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
