Duties
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to develop precise estimates of material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Utilize estimating software and other construction management tools to prepare detailed cost proposals.
- Conduct material cost estimating by analyzing blueprints and technical drawings to determine quantities and requirements.
- Manage project estimates from initial concept through final bid submission, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure favorable pricing and terms that align with project budgets.
- Oversee cost management throughout the project lifecycle by monitoring expenditures, controlling costs, and adjusting estimates as needed.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to communicate estimates clearly and address any scope or budget concerns effectively.
- Review construction drawings thoroughly to identify potential issues early and provide solutions that optimize costs without compromising quality.
- Support project management teams by providing accurate cost forecasts, assisting in bid preparation, and contributing to overall project planning.
Experience
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry.
- Strong background in construction estimating softwares
- Extensive knowledge of construction management software platforms used for project planning and cost control.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications confidently.
- Hands-on experience with estimating material requirements from blueprints and reviewing construction drawings for accuracy.
- Solid understanding of cost management principles including material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and budget estimation for large-scale projects.
- Excellent negotiation skills with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to achieve optimal pricing outcomes.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and experience working on or managing commercial projects from inception through completion.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for detailed analysis and reporting.
- Effective communication skills for client interactions, team collaboration, and presenting estimates clearly across all levels of project stakeholders.
