- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service at the front desk
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and personal data, ensuring accuracy in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as HospiceMD
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including medical history forms and prior authorizations
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and coordinate benefits with Medicare and other payers
- Schedule appointments while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism
- Maintain organized medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards
- Assist with insurance verification processes, and billing support as needed
- Prior experience in a medical office or clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in roles involving intake or front desk responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management practices
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as HospiceMD, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with hospice terminology is a plus for hospice clinic roles
- Exceptional phone etiquette and communication skills; bilingual abilities are advantageous to serve diverse patient populations
- Experience with insurance verification procedures and understanding of Medicare policies
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Strong organizational skills with clerical experience in filing, data management, and office administration
