What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Manager position at Ari Bikes?
Location: Lindon, UT (in office)
Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Mid-Senior
Salary: Competitive, Based on Experience
Ari is a direct-to-consumer cycling brand built on three principles: Custom, Quality, Direct. Our award-winning bikes — multiple Bike of the Year winners across mountain, road, and gravel — are sold directly to riders, saving them 30–40% versus comparable dealer-sold brands. Our mission: Create Exceptional Experiences, One Rider at a Time.
We are looking for a detail-driven Product Manager to own the development pipeline that turns ideas into shipped bikes. You will work with our team to define geometry, kinematics, BOMs, and component spec — and partner directly with our suppliers from concept through mass production. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who reads a 2D drawing, catches the error, and follows it through to the fix.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Frame Development: Own geometry, kinematics, materials, and frame BOMs from concept through production. Review 3D and 2D manufacturing drawings, verify component fitment, and resolve issues.
- Product Management: Drive market analysis, roadmaps, and component spec decisions. Build BOMs that hit target margins, set retail price points, and manage e-bike system selection across drive unit platforms.
- Factory & Vendor Relationships: Negotiate with frame factories on cost and timelines. Manage component vendor relationships and quality. Travel internationally as needed.
- Product Marketing: Build relationships with cycling media, write press releases and product copy, and coordinate launch reviews. Collaborate with Marketing on go-to-market plans and embargoes.
- Quality & Testing: ISO compliance, sample assembly, ride testing, and feedback through to mass production. Communicate quality issues to factories and drive resolution.
- Sourcing & Operations: Manage sourcing for frame small parts, e-system components, and accessories. Lead CX product trainings on the why behind every bike.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years in product management, frame development, or technical product roles in the bicycle industry.
- Strong working knowledge of frame geometry, suspension kinematics, drivetrain systems, and modern e-bike platforms (Bosch, Shimano, SRAM, TQ, Fazua, or similar).
- Comfortable reviewing 2D and 3D engineering drawings. You spot the tolerance issue before the prototype does.
- Experience working directly with overseas factories. Willingness to travel internationally.
- Strong commercial judgment. You build BOMs to hit target margins, not just target specs.
- Clear written communication. You can write a spec, a press release, and a factory email with equal precision.
- A serious cyclist. You ride, and your ride feedback is worth listening to.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Expertise: You are the person the team trusts to be right on the technical detail.
- Execution: You move projects to production. Drawings get reviewed, BOMs get closed, samples get tested.
- Consistency: You show up the same way every day. The team can predict how you will respond.
- Strategy: You think in product cycles, not just current projects. You can name what we should not build.
