Position: Field Construction Safety Representative

Job Description:

The Safety Representative will be responsible for auditing construction jobsites throughout the state of Virginia. Audit includes inspections, training, JSA's, corrective actions, mentoring, orientations, and all general safety process improvements. Representative must be willing to stay out of town during the work week if the jobsite if not near (within 60 minute drive) of home residence. Representative will be visiting multiple jobsites each day to verify company safety processes are being followed.

Minimum 5 years experience in Construction Safety

Duties include but are not limited to:

Teaching and enforcing health and safety standards in the workplace

Ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal and state regulations

Handling risk assessments to gather information on safety issues

Coordinating and maintaining fire equipment, evacuation plans, and hazardous waste disposal

Working under general direction with initiative and independent judgment

Detail-oriented safety coordinator to assess the health and safety standards in our workplace. The safety coordinator is also responsible for educating employees on how to follow health and safety protocols more closely.

To be successful as a safety coordinator you must have attention to detail and have excellent communication skills. A good safety coordinator has a methodical approach to improving health and safety standards.

OSHA 510 preferred.

CSCM/Certified Construction Safety Manager preferred

Monitor staff to evaluate if health and safety laws are being followed.

Assess equipment and machinery to gauge if they are in safe, working order.

Investigate on-site accidents via Root Cause Analysis process

Create plans to improve health and safety in the workplace.

Educate staff on health and safety protocols.

Prepare reports for management.

Experience as a health and safety coordinator.

Excellent computer literacy skills.

First Aid CPR Trainer

ETD Training experience preferred

Must be willing to travel during the work week and stay out of town as required

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous experience in related field (preferred)
  • Ability to work alone or in team environment.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment or special equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to carry out instructions to wherever they are necessary.
  • Knowledge of basic office management procedures.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
