Rio Grande Valley /Houston (2 Positions Available)
The Commercial Roofing Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily field operations on commercial roofing projects to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency. This includes supervising crews and subcontractors, coordinating material deliveries, monitoring schedules, ensuring compliance with safety and company standards, and acting as the primary site contact for field operations.
This role is vital to ensure that all roofing activities are performed in accordance with project specs, timelines, budgets, and safety regulations.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Project Oversight
• Direct and supervise roofing crew and subcontractors on commercial job sites.
• Ensure all work is executed according to plans, specifications, and code requirements.
• Monitor progress and adjust workflow to keep projects on track.
• Coordinate daily tasks and ensure the workforce is productive and safe.
• Scheduling & Coordination
• Coordinate site logistics, material deliveries, and equipment usage.
• Review project schedules and provide updates to project management weekly.
• Work closely with Project Managers to ensure alignment between field execution and project expectations.
• Assist in forecasting labor, equipment, and materials.
• Attend OAC meetings at Project Manager’s request.
• Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors as required onsite.
• Safety & Compliance
• Enforce jobsite safety rules and OSHA compliance.
• Complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) Daily
• Conduct daily safety meetings/toolbox talks.
• Ensure workers and subcontractors follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and complete training as needed.
• Report incidents, near misses, and maintain accurate job site safety documentation.
• Quality Control & Documentation
• Conduct regular inspections to verify quality and compliance.
• Ensure timely documentation of daily activities, material receipts, labor reports, photos, and any issues.
• Use platforms such as Buildertrend (or company-specific apps) to input daily logs.
• Ensure warranty and punch list requirements are completed.
• In coordination with Project Manager, review and approve subcontractor’s pay application where applicable.
COMMUNICATION
• Serve as the primary contact for all field personnel, inspectors, suppliers, and other trades on site.
• Relay important information between crews, vendors, and internal project teams.
• Communicate project changes or delays in a timely manner.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in commercial roofing (TPO, PVC, Modified Bitumen, Sheet Metal, etc.)
• Experience in a Superintendent or Foreman role.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specs.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge in using mobile apps or software for reporting (e.g., Buildertrend).
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Must be able to pass a DPS (Department of Public Safety) background check and be fingerprinted as required for certain public or school projects.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred (not required).
• Forklift certification a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Superintendent: 2 years (Preferred)
• Commercial Roofing: 1 year (Preferred)
• Construction: 1 year (Preferred)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8–10 hours per day).
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffold, and navigate roofs at various heights.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed to inspect work or perform hands-on tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• May require travel.
• Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
