We’re seeking an enthusiastic New Business Development / Territory Manager to drive growth across Connecticut and Southeastern New York (excluding Long Island and NYC). Our customers include independent garden centers, nurseries, hardware stores, farm & feed stores, hydroponic shops, regional chains, and other specialty retailers—making every day diverse and rewarding.
In this role, you won’t just maintain accounts, you’ll shape the future of our presence in the region. You’ll uncover untapped opportunities, strengthen emerging accounts, and fuel sales across key categories that define every season: lawn, garden, patio, and holiday décor.
Ideal candidates will reside in the Stamford, CT or Westchester County, NY area to optimize travel and customer coverage.

What You’ll Do
Account Management & Growth
- Manage and grow accounts across garden centers, hardware, farm & feed, hydroponics, regional chains, and specialty retail.
- Prospect and onboard new customers to expand Arett’s footprint.
- Identify seasonal sales opportunities and secure in-store displays.
- Promote programs, promotions, and new product launches.
Customer Engagement
- Deliver exceptional customer service with strong home-office support.
- Assist with merchandising, marketing, and consumer promotions.
- Ensure timely weekly fill-in orders to maintain strong in-stock levels.
Events & Strategy
- Represent Arett at major industry events including Open House, Pottery Showcase, Summer Marketplace, and Good Tidings Holiday Showroom.
- Monitor competitor activity and provide actionable market insights.
What You Bring
- A proven book of business and strong customer relationships in lawn & garden, hardware, or related product categories.
- 5 years of successful outside sales experience for a manufacturer or wholesale distributor (preferred).
- Retail experience in hardware, garden, hydroponic, farm, or seasonal goods (a plus).
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; comfort with learning new systems.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
