What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Instructor (Upper-Level) position at Arete Mountain Academy?
Arete Mountain Academy is hiring a full-time Math Instructor for the 2026–2027 school year.
We are seeking a certified teacher who is confident teaching Algebra through Calculus and beyond, and who is excited to work in a project-based, experiential learning environment.
This is not a traditional classroom role. At Arête, academics are integrated into real-world learning, and students are taught as individuals, not by grade-level boxes.
- Teach and support math instruction across multiple grades (approx 8th-12th)
- Work with small groups of students at varying skill levels
- Integrate math into interdisciplinary, project-based learning (PBL Works curriculum)
- Collaborate with other teachers to support whole-student growth
- Help students build confidence, problem-solving ability, and real-world application of math
- Certified teacher
- Strong background in upper-level math (Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, etc.)
- Ability to teach multiple levels simultaneously
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- A flexible, growth-oriented mindset
- Love of working with students and building relationships
- Experience with project-based learning
- Experience with mixed-age or non-traditional classrooms
- Background in STEM integration
- Experience in special education or differentiated instruction
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) → Additional compensation available for candidates able to assist with student transportation and field trips
- Interest in outdoor education, mountain biking, or hands-on learning environments

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
