About The Role
The Data Center Technician I is an entry-level role focused on learning and supporting the safe operation and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure. This position provides hands-on exposure to electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, switchgear, cooling systems, and control platforms. Technicians work under direct supervision and follow structured training programs to build foundational skills in data center operations.
What You'll Do
- Assist with routine inspections and basic maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems:
- Electrical: UPS systems, battery line-ups, switchgear, PDUs
- Mechanical: CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, CDUs, and cooling loops
- Perform basic readings and measurements (voltage, amperage, pressure, temperature).
- Support alarm monitoring and report abnormal conditions to senior technicians.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation in CMMS.
- Follow all safety protocols including LOTO, PPE, and NFPA 70E standards.
- Participate in OEM and site-specific training programs.
- Assist with site readiness and cleanliness for audits and client visits.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or trade school preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.
- Ability to read and follow safety procedures and technical instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and occasional travel.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification. (preferred)
- NFPA 70E awareness training. (preferred)
- Military technical background or trade school experience. (preferred)
