Job Description

This position is based out of the New York office and operates on a hybrid schedule.

JOB SUMMARYThis individual will handle docketing for US, International and foreign patent matters based on correspondence, PTO documents and completed filings, in order to ensure the docketing database is complete and accurate in a timely manner. In addition, this individual will enter into our database new matters transferred to our firm, including reviewing information available online via Patent Center, WIPO, foreign patent office websites, and electronic file records.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

• Review and analyze all incoming documents and correspondence related to US and foreign patent prosecution, to determine the types and deadlines of actions to be entered in our docketing database;
• Reconcile as-filed documents, acknowledgement receipts, attorney comments and incoming/outgoing communications against docketed deadlines in order to clear docketed items;
• Monitor departmental email account for incoming communications and make appropriate docket updates;
• Prepare system reports and customized queries upon request from attorneys or other staff;
• Research and resolve docketing inaccuracies and answer questions related to the docket;
• Enter new matters transferred to ArentFox Schiff from previous counsel, including utilizing Patent Center, WIPO and foreign patent offices to obtain bibliographic information and outstanding deadlines, when applicable;
• Maintain detailed notes to ensure client and attorney requested procedures are strictly adhered to.
  
  

Other Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist with reconciliation of audit reports and maintenance of database records;
• Assist with other IP related tasks, as necessary.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required;
• Knowledge and understanding of domestic/foreign patent prosecution procedures, terminology and deadlines is required;
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills and attention to detail are required;
• Accurate data entry skills;
• Strong proofreading and reading comprehension skills;
• Ability to work well under pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities while maintaining a high level of productivity;
• Typing at least 30 wpm
• Proficiency in use of office software, including Word, Excel and Outlook are helpful;
• Flexibility for overtime requiredEducation:
• B.A./B.S. degree is preferred. Related work experience may be used in lieu of formal education;Experience:
• Prior law firm experience required;
• 2 years patent docketing experience using a computerized docket system is required. Patricia experience and advanced foreign patent docketing experience is highly prefe
