What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Maintenance Specialist position at Arena Family of Companies?
Maintenance Electronic Technician (PLC & Controls) | Jefferson City, MO | Direct Hire
Some technicians are happy to swap parts and move on. Others want to understand why a machine went down and make sure it never happens the same way again. This role is for that second kind of tech. I’m partnering with a large, well established manufacturer on a Maintenance Electronic Technician search for their high-volume production facility in central Missouri, and it’s a great fit for someone early in their controls career who wants real hands-on time with PLCs, drives, and automated equipment.
You’ll be the go-to person on the floor when a line stops. You’ll dig into the controls, find the root cause, and work with operations and engineering to keep the plant running safely and efficiently. This company also promotes from within, so a strong tech here has a clear path to grow.
What you’ll do
- Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems
- Maintain and repair control systems, motor controls, drives, and electrical equipment
- Use root cause analysis to solve equipment and process issues for good
- Support installs, startups, and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades
- Read electrical and mechanical schematics to troubleshoot and improve systems
- Train operators and fellow technicians on equipment and controls
- Run daily inspections of electrical systems, lighting, and connections
- Work with OEM support on the tough problems
- Keep the spare parts inventory stocked and log work in SAP
What you bring
- An electrical, electronics, or mechanical degree, or at least 2 years of hands-on experience
- Real experience with PLCs, HMIs, drives, and industrial electrical systems
- Experience on high-speed slicing, weighing, or packaging equipment (Multivac, Weber, Handtmann, Ishida, or similar) is a big plus
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and the drive to fix the root cause
- The ability to work on your own and prioritize in a fast-paced plant
- A safety-first mindset and pride in quality work
- Flexibility for extra hours when the operation needs you
- Comfort working in wet, cold areas around moving equipment
Why this one
- A competitive pay package
- Medical, 401(k), and free tuition at select schools
- A company that promotes from within as you grow
- Lots of hands-on controls work that will sharpen your skills fast
