The Position:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. This role plays a critical part in supporting sales, operations, and project teams to ensure profitable, well-scoped projects while managing risk and cost exposure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Review and analyze RFQs, drawings, specifications, schedules, and client requirements for temporary event and overlay projects
- Prepare detailed job profitability estimates (JPEs) including labor, materials, transportation, equipment, installation, dismantle, subcontractors, and logistics
- Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure scope alignment and cost accuracy
- Collaborate with Sales to develop competitive bids that meet margin targets while remaining operationally feasible
- Work closely with Operations to validate labor assumptions, build methodologies, and installation sequencing
- Identify project risks, constraints, and assumptions; clearly document exclusions and clarifications
- Support value engineering initiatives to optimize cost, efficiency, and profitability
- Participate in internal bid reviews and estimate approvals in accordance with Arena Americas’ delegation of authority
- Support pricing for change orders, scope revisions, and additional services as required
Requirements
- Strong understanding of labor productivity, materials, logistics, and subcontractor pricing
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Requirements
- Estimating experience in large-scale sporting, entertainment, or live event environments
- Familiarity with temporary structure systems, seating, flooring, and overlay installations
- Experience supporting design-build or fast-track projects
- Knowledge of contract terms, commercial risk, and margin management
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–7 years of estimating experience in construction, events, fabrication, or project-based environments
