We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Hybrid Project Manager / MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Designer to join our innovative construction and engineering team. This role combines project management expertise with technical design responsibilities, ensuring seamless coordination across multiple disciplines and phases of complex construction projects. The successful candidate will oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution while providing comprehensive MEP design input, utilizing advanced construction management software and design tools. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead diverse projects from conception through completion, fostering collaboration among stakeholders and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Duties
- Lead project planning and scheduling activities using Primavera P6 and other construction management software to develop detailed timelines and resource allocations.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects, and internal teams to ensure project objectives are clearly defined and met within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Manage procurement processes including construction estimating, analysis, and contract review to ensure accurate cost control.
- Oversee construction site activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Utilize ProCore and Bluebeam for document management, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and field reporting.
- Monitor project progress through regular site visits and meetings; adjust schedules as needed to mitigate delays or issues.
- Collaborate on contract negotiations, change orders, and scope adjustments with stakeholders.
- Maintain meticulous records of project documentation including contracts, change orders, schedules, and financial reports.
- Support project team members in time management practices to meet critical deadlines efficiently.
- Provide technical guidance on schematics interpretation and ensure alignment between design intent and construction execution.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction project management with a focus on MEP systems or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Primavera P6 or Primavera P3 for project scheduling.
- Strong background in civil engineering design tools such as Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with heavy civil estimating software like HeavyBid is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for MEP systems.
- Knowledge of contracts management within the construction industry.
- Prior involvement in construction site activities coupled with a solid understanding of safety protocols.
- Excellent skills in project coordination across multidisciplinary teams ensuring seamless communication.
Related Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, preferably mechanical engineering or building services.
· 8 years of proven experience in MEP design consulting.
· Advanced knowledge of building industry codes and standards.
· Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
· Attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Live within commuting distance of our Honolulu office.
Prefer Experience:
· Licensed Professional Engineer
· LEED® Accreditation
· Working Autodesk® REVIT knowledge
· Working Trane® Trace 700 knowledge
