We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Project Manager specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems to lead complex construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will oversee all electrical aspects of MEP projects, ensuring adherence to technical standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
Overview:
The Assistant Project Manager will support commercial electrical construction projects ranging from $4M–$10M . This role manages project documentation, coordinates field and office teams, ensures schedule and budget alignment, and contributes to long-term project success.
Requirements:
- 8 years of experience in commercial electrical project management.
- Experience leading multi-projects simultaneously ($5M-$10M commercial electrical).
- Proficiency with Accubid, Procore, Bluebeam, MS Suite, and project financial tracking.
- Strong understanding of scheduling, RFIs, change orders, and jobsite operations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Degree preferred but not required. If no degree, field experience is needed.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience mentoring junior project staff.
- Background in large-scale commercial ground-up work.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, or cost-control expertise.
Duties
- Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of electrical components within MEP construction projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and client requirements.
- Develop detailed project schedules utilizing Primavera P6 or similar tools to monitor progress and ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to review blueprints, schematics, and system designs for electrical systems.
- Oversee construction site activities related to electrical installations, ensuring compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code), safety standards, and quality benchmarks.
- Prepare accurate construction estimates using construction estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent; manage budgets throughout project lifecycle.
- Manage procurement processes for electrical materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost control.
- Review contracts and scope of work documents to clarify responsibilities and mitigate risks.
- Supervise on-site electrical teams, providing guidance on system design implementation and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Utilize tools like ProCore and Bluebeam for project documentation, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and change order management.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify adherence to schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including schedules, progress reports, change orders, and safety records.
- Facilitate effective communication among all stakeholders to resolve issues promptly and keep projects on track.
- Monitor project performance metrics to identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; professional licensure is preferred.
- Proven experience managing electrical aspects of large-scale construction projects within the MEP sector.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical system design principles, schematics reading, and system integration.
- Proficiency with project management software such as Primavera P6; experience with ProCore, Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Strong background in construction estimating with tools like HeavyBid or equivalent software.
- Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and local building codes.
- Demonstrated ability in construction management, project scheduling, contract administration, and site supervision.
- Hands-on electrical experience coupled with construction site exposure to ensure practical understanding of installation processes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating teams across disciplines and engaging clients professionally.
- Knowledge of system design principles for complex electrical networks within commercial or industrial settings.
- Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret technical schematics confidently.
- Experience in contract negotiation and management to mitigate risks associated with scope changes or delays.
