ACES is seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and student-centered professional to serve as the Assistant Principal Designee for the REGIONS Programs. This stipend position provides administrative leadership and coordination across multiple program sites to ensure continuity of educational services, effective student transitions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and compliance with documentation and recordkeeping requirements.
The Assistant Principal Designee will work closely with program staff, treatment teams, local education agencies (LEAs), and DCF JJEU to support educational access, planning, credit recovery, and successful student entry and discharge processes across the REGIONS programs.
Essential Responsibilities
The Assistant Principal Designee will:
- Attend and participate in MDT meetings.
- Attend treatment team meetings and support coordination between educational and clinical/program staff.
- Coordinate vocational instruction across REGIONS program sites.
- Support the development and implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
- Travel regularly between Hartford, Plainville, and Hamden to support program operations and ensure continuity across sites.
- Coordinate student discharge planning to support smooth educational transitions.
- Coordinate student entry planning for new admissions.
- Oversee and support the student intake process, including gathering, reviewing, and organizing educational records and related information.
- Collaborate with LEAs regarding enrollment, records requests, transition planning, and continuity of services.
- Work collaboratively with all teams within the REGIONS programs to support consistent and effective practices.
- Collaborate with DCF JJEU regarding credit recovery, transcript review, educational planning, and graduation progress.
- Maintain all student educational records and portfolios in accordance with program expectations and applicable requirements.
- Monitor student credit accrual, academic progress, and educational transition needs.
- Support communication with families, sending districts, outside agencies, and internal staff as needed.
- Assist administration in ensuring consistent implementation of procedures and timely completion of required educational documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support REGIONS programming.
- Experience in alternative education, special education, juvenile justice education, therapeutic school settings, or other highly collaborative student support environments.
- Knowledge of student intake procedures, transition planning, discharge planning, and educational records management.
- Experience working with LEAs, community providers, and state agency partners.
- Knowledge of credit recovery, graduation planning, and student portfolio development.
- Commitment to equity, relationship-based practices, and student-centered planning.
- Administrative leadership and cross-site coordination

- Must hold current Connecticut 092 Intermediate Administrator or Supervisor certification.

This is a stipend position.
- The stipend amount, work year, and specific expectations will be determined by ACES administration.
- Travel between REGIONS program sites is required.
