Description
Responsible for operating assigned vehicle according to schedule to transport clients to various appointments. Responsible for the safety and well-being of his or her passengers for the duration of the transport.
- Operate vehicle according to assigned schedule to provide safe and reliable transportation.
- Drive in a safe and responsible manner at all times. Comply with all traffic regulations.
- Responsible for activating and deactivating the child safety alarm system.
- Assist wheelchair and mobility limited passengers in and out of the pickup/drop-off points and as they enter or exit the vehicle, including assistance with seating, securing seat belt, securing wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
- Report any witnessed or reported abuse of passengers to the Transportation Manager.
- Enforce all laws, including but not limited to, ensuring all passengers wear their seat belts at all times.
- Project a professional image and attitude at all times.
- Communicate with Dispatchers or other Drivers to report disruption of service, delays or accidents.
- Ensure clients deposit money in the fare box.
- Responsible for cleanliness of vehicle, as well as inspecting and reporting any vehicle damage or malfunction on a daily basis.
- Maintain records of trips and behavior of passengers.
- Identify self and announce presence at the entrance of the building at the specified pick-up location if the passenger is not waiting curbside.
- Regulate heating, lighting and ventilation system for passenger comfort.
- Attend educational workshops and classes.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 25 years old.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Certified in CPR/First Aid.
- Must submit to and successfully pass a criminal background screen, adult and child maltreatment screen, pre-employment DOT drug screen and pre-employment DOT physical.
- Must not have any combination of two moving violations or accidents on the motor vehicle report.
- Experience in driving or working with elderly or disabled is preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a medical or religious exemption request.
