Position Summary: William Penn School District is committed to nurturing and empowering each of our students to become career and/or college ready. Our school district is comprised of ten schools in eleven buildings across 6 boroughs in Delaware County, with an enrollment of more than 5,000 students.  We seek school leaders who are committed to aligning their school’s resources, systems and people to supporting the academic and socio-emotional growth of their students.

 

Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties: 

  • Assist with the support, instruction, and evaluation of instructional staff to ensure maximum educational benefits for students 
  • Assist with the development and implementation of a functioning education mission consistent with the vision of the William Penn School District 
  • Assist with the development of a comprehensive curriculum aligned with PDE SAS 
  • Assist with the development of an atmosphere of respect and rapport in the school setting
  • Assist with the administration of common assessments and PSSA Exams, analyzing data, and implementing strategies for improvement in student achievement
  • Assist in the use of PVAAS data to improve instruction 
  • Communicate openly and effectively with students, community, staff, and administration 
  • Assist with supervision and in providing for the general welfare of students during the school day, on school trips, and during school activities
  • Apply appropriate policies regarding pupil discipline, attendance, and individual progress consistent with the Code of Conduct and the vision of the William Penn School District 
  • Assist with the selection of duties for effective staff utilization 
  • Encourage the professional growth of teachers by advanced training, experimentation, and evaluation 
  • Assist with the administration of district policies in the operation of the school 
  • Assist with the administration of the school budget 
  • Assist in maintaining school records and filing necessary reports 
  • Assist in school compliance with legal and regulatory requirements of the various governmental agencies 
  • Assist with planning and organizing the school day and year to provide for efficient operation of the school 
  • Assist with the maintenance of safe, clean, attractive, and well-kept buildings and grounds 
  • Work cooperatively with peers in sharing ideas, techniques, and procedures 
  • Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques 
  • Adhere to all district health and safety policies 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrative staff

Required Qualifications:

  • Five years of full-time, paid, professional educational experience
  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Administrative Certificate for Elementary or K-12 School Principal

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-baccalaureate degree

Condition of Employment:

Current clearances as required by PA Department of Education:  

  1. Copy of Act 33(PA Child Abuse History) 
  2. Copy of Act 34(PA Criminal Background Check) 
  3. Copy of Act 114 (FBI Fingerprinting Background Check) 
  4. Copies of Act 168 (Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release) forms from prior employers. 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
  • Indoor office environment is subject to frequent interruptions
  • Pushing, moving and lifting objects with a strength factor of light work
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard office equipment
  • Clarity of vision at varying distances
  • Verbal, auditory and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
  • Sitting and standing for extended periods of time
  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking
  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies
  • Lifting objects with a strength factor of light work
  • Occasional bending, reaching and stretching
  • Occasional kneeling, crouching and squatting
  • Occasional pulling, pushing

Level of Compensation: Commensurate with experience
