Job Description: We are currently seeking enthusiastic and empathetic individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). As a DSP, you will directly support individuals with diverse abilities in their day-to-day activities, promote skill development, and create opportunities for community engagement. Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
- Assist individuals in daily activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration, while promoting independence and self-reliance.
- Create and implement individualized support plans tailored to each person's unique needs and goals.
- Encourage skill development and participation in recreational and social activities to enhance community integration.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes dignity, respect, and person-centered care.
- Document and maintain accurate records of the care provided, progress, and any incidents, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including supervisors, families, and healthcare professionals, to ensure holistic care and support for individuals.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional relevant certifications or education in the field of human services, psychology, or related disciplines are a plus.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is advantageous but not mandatory. We provide comprehensive training for all new team members.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathize, actively listen, and communicate effectively with individuals, colleagues, and families.
- A positive and patient attitude, coupled with a passion for supporting and empowering others.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic situations, think creatively, and problem-solve effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred
- Knowledge of basic personal care tasks and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must pass background checks and drug screening
