General Purpose:

Manages the home equity and first mortgage loan processing, closing and post-closing workflow in compliance with all regulatory and credit union policies and procedures. Manages loan pipelines for timely processing, closing and funding. Ability to fill in for the loan processing, closing and post-closing staff during high volume or time off. Train and assist new/existing employees. Handles escalated or highly complex loan scenarios.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manages the real estate lending staff in the handling of the loan processing, closing and post-closing functions.
  2. Trains both new and existing employees on the home equity and mortgage loan process, procedure, policy, new products and services. Clearly explains standards and expectations.
  3. Assists with coordination of loan system changes and updates with the data processing departments and outside vendors. Preparing and revising documents, testing new products and processes, identifying system problems and recommending corrective actions.
  4. Maintains a working knowledge of home equity and first mortgage products and requirements.
  5. Supports staff by offering direction on navigating escalated situations and complex loan scenarios.
  6. Acts as a liaison between Lending, branches and other departments regarding loan applications, questions and resolution of problems.
  7. Maintains a positive working relationship with all third party vendors, including Ardent’s loan servicer, QC vendors, system contacts and more.
  8. Recognize and report suspicious activity to Asset Recovery Dept. &/or manager.
  9. Provides excellent service to other credit union employees in support of their activities and within agreed service level agreements.

Other Duties:

  1. Maintains proper quality control of all loan files by verifying proper documentation is received and files are properly documented.
  2. Supports processors to pre-qualify member for loan amount according to investor guidelines with acceptable ratios, credit, employment history, and source of funds to close the loan.
  3. Coordinates timely preparation of month-end reports.
  4. Meets mutually agreed upon performance standards.
  5. Answers telephone.
  6. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Job Requirements (Knowledge/Abilities):

  1. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Basic arithmetic skills.

Job Requirements (Knowledge/Abilities)cont.:

  1. Working knowledge of credit union's in-house computer system.
  2. Working knowledge of mortgage software.
  3. Working knowledge of credit union loan program guidelines and policies and loan processing functions.
  4. Working knowledge of third-party processors and FNMA/FHLMC requirements/services.
  5. Demonstrated ability to provide courteous and professional service to members.
  6. Familiarity with mortgage loan documents.

 

Job Requirements (Education/Experience):

  1. High School diploma or equivalent, Associates degree in Accounting, Business or Finance preferred.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in Mortgage Loan Processing AND/OR 3-5 years of experience in Mortgage Loan Closing preferred.
  3. Must have 2 -5 years supervisory experience.
  4. Customer service experience in the capacity of a financial institution.

 

Working Conditions:

The credit union is committed to working with its employees to reasonably accommodate them with the physical aspects of the position. The working conditions are general business office with daily member contact, interaction with volunteers and management. Other working conditions include sitting for extended periods of time, frequent up/down motion, reaching downward or overhead from sitting position, stooping, bending and pushing/pulling, climbing some stairs, lifting and moving moderately heavy items and repetitive keyboard typing.
