Role Description
The Project Mechanical Engineer provides technical expertise while carrying out and completing designs, engineering drawings, construction, installation, and rebuilding of facilities and equipment within the area of discipline. The area of discipline includes but is not limited to heavy industrial equipment, compressors, industrial gases/services, chilled water, process water, vacuum systems, air fans, industrial piping, ductwork, conveyors, dust collectors, batch systems, and other areas associated with glass container manufacturing.

Responsibilities
- Develop solutions for Ardagh Glass Packaging plants to satisfy the capacity customer and quality constraints and ensure they fall within the Ardagh Group Capital Plan
- Supervise capital projects and interface with contractors and other Ardagh Group engineers during field installations
- Prepare conceptual drawings, and budgetary project estimates, and submit Capital Approval Requests for management approval
- Develop project scope definition, materials and labor cost estimates, and competitive bidding documents for equipment and contract work
- Work closely with and involve the plant team while developing scopes for the mechanical engineering-related projects
- Seek potential bidders, coordinate the bidding process, and prepare bid packages and equipment specifications
- Evaluate new processes and equipment to determine the benefits to Ardagh Glass Packaging
- Investigate circumstances surrounding each assigned project and prepare a definition of objectives
- Prepare calculations, design layouts, and AutoCAD drawings as required for project study evaluation approval and installation
- Provide operational support and troubleshooting for ongoing issues that plant teams cannot manage.
- Participate and/or lead root cause analysis on equipment failures
- Document maintenance task steps to properly maintain manufacturing equipment
- Work with and support plant maintenance teams with respect to preventive and predictive maintenance of the mechanical systems
- Train plant operations and maintenance teams on the operation/troubleshooting of the mechanical systems in glass bottle manufacturing
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- Ten (10) years in a manufacturing environment including construction and project management experience
- Ability to design and render working drawings for a variety of manufacturing processes
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in planning and organization
- Detail-oriented and can identify problems and make recommendations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel 50-75%
- Prior experience in glass container process equipment and production
- Prior experience with preventive and/or predictive maintenance programs and CMMS
