What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Architect position at Arcus Search?
Data Architect
An innovative technology organisation operating large scale, high density infrastructure is building a unified data environment to support its next generation facilities.
Its facilities generate significant volumes of operational telemetry, sensor data and enterprise information. The objective is to structure, secure and govern that data within a single architecture capable of supporting advanced analytics, simulation and AI driven workloads.
This role will own the data architecture across the estate, working closely with digital and systems integration counterparts to ensure a coherent, scalable and secure environment.
This is a senior position suited to architects who have designed data platforms in mission critical or industrial settings where reliability, governance and performance standards are high.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the end to end data architecture spanning operational telemetry, IoT sensor feeds, asset performance metrics and enterprise datasets
- Design and evolve the enterprise data model to ensure consistency across platforms such as BMS, EPMS, CMMS and ERP systems
- Define and implement ingestion and transformation pipelines supporting both real time streaming and batch processing workloads
- Architect scalable cloud based data platforms, selecting and optimising time series, relational and analytical technologies, including lake or lakehouse patterns where appropriate
- Define and enforce data governance frameworks covering access control, retention, regulatory alignment and security controls in partnership with cyber teams
- Establish robust data quality, lineage, metadata and model lifecycle standards to ensure traceability and long term maintainability
- Define API and integration standards for systems producing and consuming data across the estate
- Deliver production grade datasets that support predictive modelling, digital twin initiatives and strategic reporting
What you’ll need:
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong background in data architecture or senior data engineering within mission critical or industrial environments such as data centres, energy systems, manufacturing or smart buildings
- Proven experience in enterprise data modelling and governance frameworks
- Hands on experience designing time series platforms and streaming data architectures
- Deep knowledge of modern data tooling including ETL and ELT frameworks, distributed processing engines and cloud native analytics platforms
- Familiarity with operational technology and IoT protocols such as BACnet, Modbus or OPC UA, and integrating those data sources into enterprise systems
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms and edge data processing strategies
- Clear communication skills with the ability to align engineering, operational and analytics stakeholders
You will define how operational and business data is structured, governed and leveraged across a technically demanding environment where accurate, timely information directly influences performance and long term infrastructure strategy.
