Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, preparation, and execution of in vivo pharmacology studies in accordance with institutional and regulatory guidelines (IACUC).
- Support compound administration (e.g., oral, IP, IV) and perform routine animal observations and health assessments.
- Collect biological samples (e.g., blood, plasma, and tissues) for downstream analyses.
- Assist with sample preparation, data entry, and organization of study documentation.
- Participate in ex vivo sample preparation and analysis
- Participate in data analysis and interpretation, including graphing using software such as GraphPad Prism or Excel.
- Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing study results, methods learned, and key takeaways from the internship experience.
- Completing second year of university or higher. Major in Animal Science, Pharmacology, Biology, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in handling rodents or similar small animal species.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Demonstrated success in relevant scientific coursework and basic laboratory experience (e.g., pipetting, sample handling).
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Outlook).
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team-oriented research environment.
- Previous experience with rodent handling and basic in vivo techniques.
- Familiarity with pharmacology concepts, dose-response relationships, or PK/PD principles.
- Experience with data analysis tools (GraphPad Prism, R, or Python).
- Knowledge of IACUC regulations or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- This intern position is 40 hours per week located on our Hayward, CA Campus
- All applicants must be actively enrolled in an accredited academic program for Fall
- As an Arcus intern, you will be employed as a temporary hourly employee.
- Interns will be paid hourly, less payroll deductions and all required tax withholdings.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 40 pounds.
- Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and work above shoulders, sort and file paperwork or parts.
- Rarely climb, scrub, sweep, mop, chop and mix or operate hand and foot controls.
- Must have correctible vision to perform duties of the job.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours.
