Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties:
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Take and record patient vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant health information.
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, organized, and properly stocked with necessary supplies.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, administer medications, and manage wound care as directed by the physician.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing.
- Conduct EKGs, phlebotomy, and other diagnostic tests as required.
- Administer injections and immunizations under the supervision of a physician.
- Educate patients on prescribed treatments, medications, and preventive healthcare.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Handle incoming calls, answer patient inquiries, and provide general information about the practice.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and order replacements as necessary.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and communicate with external healthcare providers as needed.
- Patient Interaction:
- Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients throughout their visit.
- Ensure patients understand their care instructions and answer any questions they may have.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Experience in a private practice environment is a plus.
Certifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is preferred but not required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
