JOB PURPOSE: Acts as an extension to the office on board the Arctic Storm and as the vessel medical officer.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNDTABILITIES BY DEPARTMENT:

PURCHASING DEPARTMENT:

• Update receiving in the computer using the department head receiving logs. Update the usage in the computer on a regular basis. Keep an up-to-date P.O. log in the ship’s office.

• Responsible for the proper paperwork when purchasing in Dutch Harbor. Blank purchase orders will be kept on board in a secure place with numbers to be forwarded at the beginning of offload. The operations manager must authorize and sign all purchases. Issue a P.O. number and attach the receipt to the P.O. issued before sending to office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide office with a crew list within 24 hours of leaving port.
• Fill out all appropriate paperwork with crewmembers that are extending, new hire or leaving the vessel.
• Be trained in “Medical Emergencies at Sea”. Take hospital inventory. Order hospital supplies. Be able to use maritime Access with Geo. Washington University. Take care of all minor injuries and illnesses. Have all appropriate forms filled out. I.e. injury reports, OSHA and USCG 2692 when requested.
• Should arrange to have the Hepatitis B vaccination and dispense these when necessary on-board.
• If boarded by OSHA, follow OSHA inspector around to take notes on the complete inspection. Assist the Factory manager in complying with OSHA.
• Each time the vessel leaves port, give a demonstration on the correct way to lift objects and move objects. Cover ergonomics of jobs onboard the vessel.
• Each time the vessel leaves port, explain and review the OSHA policies. Make sure crew understands the MSDS sheets and where they are located.
• Be able to collect a drug test and fill out the paper work correctly. You will need to do this in case of injury, random drug test or when requested by an officer or the office.
• Manage crew fishing licenses and send applications when needed.

ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT

5-7 days before vessel comes in for offload, the following need to be faxed to the office:

1.   Total dollar amount (cash advances) for the Arctic Storm and the Sea Storm   

2.     Total dollar amount of petty cash (including pop machine)

3.     List of cash on hand broken down by currency amounts

At the completion of the offload, send the following on a 3.5 diskette with the operations manager:

1.   Ship advance list

2.     Ship store charges

3.     Misc. charges

4.     Petty cash log from the beginning of current month to end of offload

5.     Fill out timesheet for Galley cooks. Have Steward verify and sign.

6.     List of cash advances for Sea Storm
