The Mechanical Quality Control is responsible for assisting the Quality Control Systems Manager (CQCSM) with the overall implementation and management of the quality control system and ensuring compliance with the contract documents, as it pertains to the mechanical and plumbing systems. The position requires on-site presence at all times during progression of mechanical construction activities.

This role requires full-time on-site presence and an unwavering commitment to quality, accountability, and results. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a presence on the project site while mechanical work is performed and take necessary actions to ensure contract compliance.
  • Apply contractor quality control system to mechanical and plumbing construction activities.
  • Assist in implementation of the project-specific Contractor Quality Control Plan (CQCP).
  • Review contract documents, including plans and specifications, to ensure on-site work meets contract requirements.
  • Work with Project Superintendent and subcontractors in preparing and submitting technical submittals and/or test reports.
  • Participate in QC inspections at the jobsite, as required to meet contract requirements.
  • Aid in preparation of Requests For Information (RFIs), including technical RFIs from subcontractors, for all mechanical disciplines.
  • Coordinate and review purchase orders for contract compliance.
  • Receive and inspect materials for mechanical disciplines.
  • Identify and track quality deficiencies and implement corrective actions, at the direction of CQCSM.
  • Review testing reports and plans for mechanical disciplines and input test reports into RMS, at the direction of CQCSM.
  • Collaborate with Project Schedule updates as appropriate, coordinating with management.
  • Update on-site as-built drawings for mechanical disciplines, in coordination with CQCSM.
  • Support closeout inspections, as well as generation and execution of punch lists.
  • Assist on-site Commissioning team and review related reports for submission to USACE.
  • Participate in project meetings, including owner meetings with USACE and other stakeholders, weekly schedule meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Participate in all phases of the USACE three-phase Quality Control program for definable features of work for mechanical systems.
  • Serve as the alternate Quality Control Manager for the project.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical building systems and applicable codes/standards, including HVAC, plumbing, and building automation/controls systems, with ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure full compliance with contract requirements and governing codes.
  • Thorough understanding of federal construction quality control processes, including the USACE 3-phase QC system, inspection/testing requirements, commissioning, and documentation practices, with demonstrated ability to verify materials, monitor installation, and validate system performance across HVAC, plumbing, and controls scopes.
  • Ability to remain detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi task to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to comply with, understand, and support ASRC Construction's safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Ability to receive U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approval prior to hire.

1) Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minimum (4) years of experience,

OR

2) A minimum of five (5) years of experience supervising mechanical features of work in the field with a construction company.
  • Ability to pass a federal government background check, pre-employment drug & alcohol screening, and any other screening required to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Skill in the use of MS Office and Adobe Acrobat at an intermediate level.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required.

Preferred
  • Experience on Department of Defense projects for clients such as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Air Force, or NAVFAC.
  • Experience using U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contract administration software (Resident Management System (RMS3), Quality Control System (QCS)) or similar product.
  • Working knowledge of USACE EM-385-1-1, OSHA 1926, 1910, and regulatory requirements pertaining to heavy industrial or commercial construction.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the USACE 3-Phase Quality Control System.
  • Completion of the course entitled Construction Quality Management for Contractors or ability to complete within 30 days of hire
  • Completion of the 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety course or ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
