Arcosa Aggregates is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Assistant Driller to support our mineral exploration activities. This role assists the driller in safely and efficiently operating exploration drill rigs used in the discovery and evaluation of aggregate resources. The Assistant Driller plays a vital role in core recovery, sample collection, equipment maintenance, and site safety.

Day to Day
- Actively promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through positive recognition
- Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations
- Perform daily pre-shift equipment and workplace inspections to maintain equipment performance
- The ability to operate one piece of mobile equipment (skid steer, haul truck, farm tractor, rubber tire backhoe, etc.)
- Assist in the setup, operation, and breakdown of drilling rigs and associated equipment
- Support the driller in conducting rotary, core, and auger drilling methods
- Handle and transport drill rods, casing, and core samples
- Ensure accurate labeling and storage of samples for geological analysis
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of drilling equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized job site and comply with all company and regulatory safety standards
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at drilling sites
- Monitor drilling parameters and support record-keeping activities
- Operate support vehicles and machinery as needed
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to hazard identification and reporting
- Maintain strong communications with other plant employees and operators
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel and occasionally work on/through weekends
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, and lift weights up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 ft high
- Ability to work in various outdoor conditions
- Willingness to learn how to operate drill rigs and train as a driller over time
- Drilling Experience
- Heavy Equipment Operation
- Mechanical Experience
- First Aid/CPR
- MSHA Certification
- Class A or B CDL
- Welding and Fabrication
