Role Description
This is a full-time, hybrid Interior Designer role based in Lombard, IL. The Interior Designer will collaborate with architects, project managers, consultants, and clients to develop interior concepts that support educational, civic, and corporate environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include space planning, preparing interior design presentations, selecting finishes and FF&E, and producing detailed construction drawings and documentation. The role involves coordinating with consultants and vendors, assisting with specifications and schedules, and supporting projects from schematic design through construction administration. The Interior Designer will also participate in client meetings, update design solutions based on feedback, and help ensure that all interiors meet functional, aesthetic, budget, and code requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design; progress toward NCIDQ, LEED, or similar credentials is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in an architectural and/or design office is preferred, but not required
- Diverse experience with full range of architectural and/or design services from pre-design through construction administration (preK-12 experience preferred). Field experience is desired but not required.
- Strong Interior Design skills with the ability to develop cohesive design concepts, palettes, and detailed interior solutions.
- Proficiency in Space Planning to create efficient, accessible, and code-compliant layouts for educational, municipal, and corporate spaces.
- Experience collaborating within an Architecture-focused team environment and integrating interiors with overall building design.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate Construction Drawings and documentation, including plans, elevations, details, and schedules.
- Knowledge of FF&E selection, specification, and coordination, including furniture, fixtures, equipment, and finishes.
- Proficiency with design and documentation software (such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite) and basic MS Office skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and client coordination skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative setting.
