Rail and Material Handling Operations
- Connect and disconnect railcars in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements
- Unload railcars and tankers using approved methods and equipment
- Move and position railcars on the rail siding using a Trackmobile
- Transport materials and pallets between outdoor and indoor areas using a forklift or other material‑handling equipment
- Ensure materials are properly staged, secured, and identified
- Operate powered industrial equipment, including:
- Forklifts
- Trackmobile
- Floor sweepers and floor scrubbers
- Perform required pre‑use inspections of powered industrial equipment and report defects or safety concerns
- Operate equipment in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner at all times
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the rail siding and surrounding outdoor areas
- Operate floor sweepers and scrubbers to maintain cleanliness in assigned areas
- Empty trash dumpsters into compactors and ensure waste areas are clean and orderly
- Assist with general yard and dock cleanliness as needed
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents, and equipment issues promptly
- Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives and audits
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment (forklift, Trackmobile, floor sweeper/scrubber), or willingness to be trained and certified
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Work is performed primarily outdoors at a rail siding and yard area
- Exposure to hot and cold weather, rain, snow, and varying environmental conditions
- Ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift, push, and pull materials (with or without reasonable accommodation)
- Climb, bend, stoop, and work around rail equipment and industrial machinery
- May include shift work, weekends, overtime, or on‑call assignments as required by operations
- Previous shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience
- Prior railcar handling or Trackmobile experience
- Forklift or other powered industrial truck certification
- Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment
