The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming first impression for members and guests. This role manages reservations, seating flow, and guest communication to ensure an organized and elevated dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet members and guests promptly with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Manage reservations and seating using reservation systems (e.g., ForeTees, OpenTable)
- Maintain accurate wait times and communicate delays clearly
- Escort guests to tables and present menus when appropriate
- Coordinate table rotation and seating flow with servers and management
- Answer phone calls, assist with inquiries, and take reservations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entry area
- Assist with special events, large parties, and member functions
- Handle guest concerns with professionalism and escalate when necessary
- Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stay organized and composed in a fast-paced environment
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
- Basic knowledge of reservation systems (or willingness to learn)
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs (menus, small supplies)
- Fast-paced hospitality setting
- Frequent interaction with members, guests, and staff
- High standards of service and professionalism expected
- Guests feel welcomed within seconds of arrival
- Smooth, balanced seating flow with minimal wait issues
- Clear communication between front-of-house team members
