Qualifications:
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-15 grade level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-14 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and which equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This includes:
- Research and provide reports on complex issues for leadership, including policy focused issues that contribute to overall agency strategy. AND
- Manage multiple projects including high profile events that are often complex and involve public figures and large audiences. AND
- Draft press releases, media advisories and statements to the press to elevate public reputations. AND
- Communicate with external stakeholders, including Members of Congress, federal agency leaders and private institutions.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following requirements, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
Time-in-Grade: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Responsibilities:
As a Special Assistant, you will:- Represent the National Archives to external stakeholders including Members of Congress, federal agency leaders, and private institutions.
- Manage complex projects with short deadlines for leadership, demonstrating sound judgement and thoroughness while working independently.
- Execute large-scale events for the agency that are public facing.
- Research and provide reports on complex issues for leadership.
