Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer, PE to join our Fort Worth team. Reporting to the Director of Design & Engineering, this role provides advanced technical leadership and direct oversight of structural design work. The position includes supervision of one engineer and plays a key role in ensuring our products meet all structural, safety, and quality standards. As a hands-on professional in this role, you will be expected to thrive on solving complex problems and driving design quality. This position requires active collaboration with our pre-construction and operations teams, as well as representing the firm in communications with our clients and partners.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in structural engineering, specifically with architectural metals (aluminum and steel), and a deep understanding of wind, snow, and seismic load analysis. While a structural focus is preferred, licensed engineers with a Civil background and relevant experience will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Analysis: Perform and oversee complex structural calculations for components and assemblies, including connections, anchoring, and main structural members, considering wind, snow, seismic, and dead loads.
Technical Oversight: Review, approve, and stamp calculations and shop drawings for project submittals, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with all relevant building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, etc.).
Team Leadership: Lead and manage the in-house engineering team. Set department goals and manage workflow and project scheduling.
Code Compliance: Maintain expert-level knowledge of national and regional building codes and standards applicable to sun control products and architectural elements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the design, project management, fabrication and sales teams to ensure engineering solutions are efficient, manufacturable, and align with project scope and budget.
Problem-Solving: Act as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting complex design, fabrication, or field installation challenges.
Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement within the engineering department by standardizing calculations, optimizing workflows, and implementing best practices.
R&D Support: Provide engineering expertise for the development of new products and the refinement of existing product lines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
License: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.
Must be licensed in Texas or have the ability to gain reciprocity within 90 days.
Ability and willingness to obtain PE licenses in other states as needed.
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of progressive engineering experience.
Minimum of 2 years in a management or team leadership role.
Technical Skills:
Proven expertise in structural analysis and design, particularly with aluminum and all types of building structures.
Deep familiarity with building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, Aluminum Design Manual).
Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., MathCAD or similar).
Knowledge and experience with 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferably, AutoCAD and Revit).
Leadership Skills:
Professional representation of the firm is essential, requiring excellent organizational skills and the capacity for clear, client-facing communication. Must be able to articulate complex technical solutions effectively to both clients and internal teams.
