What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lock Installation Specialist position at Architectural Division 8?
Job Summary
We are looking for an individual to join our team who would like to be a locksmith for commercial construction projects. Persons who are punctual, have drive, aptitude, ability, look for solutions rather than problems and are self-motivated possess the characteristics of a strong candidate, regardless of prior experience. If you have no experience but have a mechanical aptitude and interest to learn, we will train you.
Some of the job duties are as follows:
- Installs, repairs, rebuilds, and services mechanical and electrical locking devices using hand tools and specialized equipment
- Disassembles locks, such as padlocks, safe locks, and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts
- Inserts new lock to change combinations
- Cuts new or duplicate keys to code using key cutting machine
- Moves lock-pins in cylinder to open door locks without keys
- Retains confidential records of company locks and keys
- Installs, maintains and repairs locking devices, and related hardware on all doors, cabinets, and drawers, including low voltage electric door hardware
- Installs, repairs, and maintains electronic access control systems, components, and hardware
- Uses and operates locksmith related electrical machines and tools
- Impressions keys for locks that have no key available
- Re-pins locks according to existing and newly created Master Key Systems
- Holds and directs key meetings
- Qualifications and Skills
Skills/Qualifications:
- Knows how to read and use a tape measure
- Familiarity of construction drawings
- Knowledge of construction and safety operations and procedures, safety methods and practices
- Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic, fractional math and use a calculator
- Ability to follow instructions in verbal and written format
- Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice and desire to help when dealing with people
- Clean driving record
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug screen and school district background screening (Senate Bill 9 or per local ISD requirements)
- Need to be able to use ladders, scaffolding and operate scissor and boom lifts
- Experience with hand and power tools - we supply the tools, you supply the skills
- Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Current State of Texas Driver's License and have own transportation (job sites are not always served by public transportation)
- Clean criminal background that adheres to EEO and other government regulations, will need to successfully pass a criminal background check to allow for work on local, state and federal government job sites.
