The Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in preparing complex tax returns, collaborating directly with clients, and supporting general accounting functions. This individual will also assist with QuickBooks-related tasks and provide guidance to junior team members as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a small-firm setting where flexibility and client service are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns.
- Meet with clients to gather information, discuss tax planning opportunities, and provide general guidance.
- Assist clients with QuickBooks setup, troubleshooting, and ongoing bookkeeping support.
- Conduct tax research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and general accounting duties as needed.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff when necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA eligibility strongly preferred).
- 3–5 years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong client relationships.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA preferred
- 4 years tax experience
- Strong leadership and client skills
