Job Summary:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant responsible for accounting, payroll, sales tax, and both business and individual tax preparation. This role supports multiple client engagements and requires hands-on experience in a public accounting environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently on day-to-day accounting tasks and has strong working knowledge of QuickBooks.
Position Description:
The Staff Accountant performs general accounting duties including posting journal entries, maintaining general ledgers, completing monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The role includes maintaining accurate financial records for multiple clients and supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
This position is responsible for processing payroll, preparing and filing sales tax returns, and assisting with the preparation of company and personal tax returns. The Staff Accountant gathers and organizes financial data, prepares workpapers, and supports tax compliance activities. The role may also involve assisting with responses to tax notices, audits, or information requests.
The Staff Accountant works closely with other accountants to meet client deadlines and ensure accuracy across all accounting and tax deliverables. The position requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a CPA firm or public accounting firm is strongly preferred.
- Experience with accounting, payroll, sales tax, and business and individual tax preparation is required.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks is required.
