Extraction Superintendent - Deerfield, MO
This is a full-time, exempt position.
The Deerfield, Missouri soybean crushing operation also has a soy oil refinery and a biodiesel plant. This is a non-union facility with a workforce of approximately 75 employees. Under direction of the Plant Manager, the Extraction Superintendent's is the leader responsible for the safety, regulatory compliance, operation, colleague development, and performance of the Soybean Extraction plant. This position directly and indirectly leads a team of approximately 25 to 40 full time colleagues, in both supervisor and operator roles.
The skills necessary to be successful include an understanding of process safety management and the ability to lead and manage plant priorities in areas including plant and personnel safety, administration of corporate and plant policies, quality control, environmental compliance, production, cost management, and capital discipline. After hours work and weekend/holiday call-ins may be necessary.

Responsibilities include:
- Display a commitment to lead, participate, and support ongoing safety engagement, ensuring both the team focuses on safety as the top priority and the department maintains compliance of all health and safety regulations.
- Manage the daily operations of soybean cleaning, preparation, solvent extraction, distillation, and de-solventization, while insuring adherence to established product, environmental, quality guidelines, and good manufacturing practices.
- Understanding of operations, rules, regulations, and policies and have the ability to communicate those requirements effectively to the workforce through operator training and development.
- Collaborate with work groups across the organization to develop strategic vision for the department and coordinate with local maintenance, engineering, and contractor teams.
- Oversight and management of capital projects taking place at the facility.
- Maintain good working relationships with all employees while demonstrating ADM Core Values in decision making and actions.
- Perform colleague performance reviews and meet with them on a regular basis to review goals and individual development plans.
- Work history in process safety management areas and prior experience leading / supervising people.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to provide guidance and feedback.
- Results driven to provide support to achieve the goals established by management.
- The ability to provide motivation and coaching to direct reports and demonstrate leadership qualities to all plant personnel.
- Problem solving skills, troubleshooting, and sound decision making are necessary to be successful.
- An Engineering degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Products
- Applicant must be able to work in all types of climates both inside and outdoor, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, noisy /dusty environments, heights, all of which require use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Ability to climb stairs, access ladders, catwalks and elevated working platforms across all hours of shift working time. Job will require some lifting, sitting and standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling and qualifications for respirator use.
