This is a full-time on-site role for a Controller located in Archer, IA. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial statements and conducting financial reporting. Additional responsibilities include managing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Controller will also work closely with the general manager to support strategic decision-making and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Ensure financial reporting is accurate and timely.
- General Ledger Management: Manage the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately. Oversee journal entries, accruals, and month-end close processes.
- Account Reconciliation: Supervise the reconciliation of all major accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws.
- Audit Coordination: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and reports.
- Tax Compliance & Reporting: Oversee tax filings to ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency of financial operations. Automate and streamline financial workflows where possible.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor the company’s cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations and planning for future financial needs.
- Strategic Support: Provide General Manager with financial insights and recommendations to aid in strategic decision-making, including new initiatives, expansions, or cost-saving measures.
- Human Resource Functions: Facilitate payroll & employee benefits processing ensuring compliance with federal & state reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, financial reporting, and budgeting
- Experience with payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Understanding of regulatory compliance relating to financial management
- Proficiency with accounting software and financial tools
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a management team
- Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, and or relevant experience that demonstrates practical skills and knowledge
- Experience in the agricultural industry is a plus
