What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm Worker position at Archer Bros?
Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, combines, back-hoes, mowers, track-hoes, and ATVs/side by sides. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Duties include receiving crop for storage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain; transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scale tickets; and shoveling grain. Manual duties include loading seed into planters; changing combine cutting heads; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, buildings, and all farm structures and equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; mowing and landscaping on the farm; and removing rocks from fields. Job requires tending to livestock in the forms of feeding, examining, tagging or branding, herding, mixing feed, lifting bags of mineral and hay bales, assisting with vet visits, cleaning pens, assisting with medication administration, calving cows and bred heifers, occasionally lifting and carrying newborn calves, and weaning calves from cows. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
