Job Summary
The Dining Room Assistant is responsible for the facilitation of food services offered at The
Cenacle on the Lake including setting the tables, replenishing low food and beverage levels,
attending to retreatant needs while in the dining room, cleaning tables, washing dishes, restocking
silverware and glassware, and other assigned duties.
Essential Functions
Implements the archdiocese's mission and philosophy as it relates to the goals of the Retreat
Center.
Maintains a professional, compassionate and welcoming attitude toward staff, volunteers, and
guests.
Follows directives of the Lead Cook regarding assignments and specific duties.
Sets the tables with condiments, napkins and décor and ensures silverware and glassware is
stocked.
Prepares coffee and other beverage items and is responsible for maintaining the salad bar.
Assists retreatants as needed during meal times and is available for any questions or
concerns.
Maintains adequate food levels and reports low items to Lead Cook.
Assists in the upkeep, cleanliness and neatness of the kitchen, dining room and pantry areas.
Follows proper food handling procedures and maintains sanitary dining conditions.
Removes all trash at the end of a shift.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience working in the food service industry
Knowledge of Parish/State/Federal food regulations
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Ability to work in a fast-paced, ministry-oriented environment
Flexibility in hours and ability to work on weekends
Minimum Qualifications/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
2 years' experience in the food service industry
Preference will be given to those who follow the tenets of our Catholic faith
